This Damchen Resort is located at a very appropriate location just beside the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers of Punakha. I had stayed in this hotel only for 1 day i.e. on 30/12/2016. Ambience of this resort is too good and looks beautiful. The rooms are also neat and clean. But I would suggest to book for the ground floor rooms as those rooms have a door inside the rooms which opens in the garden and using it one can easily visit the garden area and can visit the riverside, instead of using the front door each and everytime. This is a very calm and peaceful place. The room service is good but I would like to suggest that it is a bit costlier if one wants to stay for more than 2 days. Also they had proper arrangements for bonfire. If anyone like to enjoy bonfire then he/she need to inform them some hours earlier and they would arrange for it and it is chargeable.

– “A good resort beside the river”
We were on a biking expedition to bhutan and we had to find accommodation on the go. After reaching phunaka (old capital of Bhutan) we were looking out for some budget hotels (1-2k) then we came across this beautiful resort which is just next to bus stand and a big phunaka market. They gave a very good discount of 40% and allowed us (4 bikers) to stay in 3 bed room with river view. It was a very short pleasant stay in this resort. They also had a bonfire in river beach. We had breakfast in restaurant and it is very good at nominal price. Also by 5 - 10 mins walk you can access the entire nearby town.
– “Awesome River view resort”
The rooms here were lovely, mine was a large suite and had a small balcony overlooking the gardens with poinsettia trees - and no Bhutan dogs within earshot, bliss! Would recommend staying here to anyone - clean, food as good as anywhere we found.
– “Great hotel”
Our room was very specious with river view through the large window. River flows almost at the doorstep of this resort. Facilities are very good. The stewardess minutely understood our food requirements and the chef very carefully prepared Indian vegetarian dish to the best of our taste. Hotel staff very cordial and polite. Ambience and surrounding - very impressive.
– “A Riverside Luxury with Scenic Beauty”
We stayed in 2 adjacent Oval rooms. We arrived at around 2 p.m. there and they could not serve as lunch as their lunch time was over. This is a little different from other places in Bhutan where they are very much flexible with timing based on customer's convenience. Anyways we managed with their snacks menu which has pretty good variety and also tastes good. Rooms are very spacious. Room service is also cordial and prompt (some lights were not working in our room which they tried to fix quickly). And position of the resort is superb. You can actually see the river from your room and can walk to the river bank as you cross the garden adjacent to the hotel. There is a nice children's park adjacent to the hotel which our kids enjoyed a lot. Market area is at walking distance or u can take a taxi which takes 50 rupees. One major problem is wifi does not work in room but in all places outside room. This is also little different from normal hotel standard in Bhutan. Overall a good place to stay at Punakha.
