  • Drubchhu Resort

    Some Key Facts:

    • Drubchhu is a family owned and managed resort located in the valley of Lobesa
    • Drubchhu overlooking paddy fields and farm houses. The resort is within easy walking distance to Chimi Lhakhand and the village.
    • With a total of 27 rooms and yoga room, giving travellers a place to stay. The rooms are large and spacious.

Drubchhu is located near the tri-junction of the National Highway between three dzongkhags (districts); Thimphu, Punakha and Wangdue. This makes it an ideal halt for the long drive across Bhutan. Drubchhu was started in 2014 and is slowly starting to take root. The entire property is supplied with fresh water from the spring on the land. Simple and hearty meals are served with consistency by our young kitchen staff. We have an ever growing kitchen garden which gives the kitchen a constant supply of fresh salads.

Evenings may be spent soaking in a hot stone bath, then you may opt to spend some time in the ‘Mad Man’ bar sitting around a warm bonfire. A wood fired oven is nearby for pizza and roasts on demand. Mornings can be started with fresh coffee at the café with a stunning view. All the while you will be under the personal care of two sisters who own and manage Drubchhu.

Drubchhu has a panoramic view of paddy fields which, through the seasons always provide a picturesque scene of rural Bhutan. Drubchhu is shaded by giant pine trees which are believed to be the homes of ‘lues’ or ‘nagas’, the serpentine protectors and long-time inhabitants of the area.

Nice view from the resort. Facilities were good- nice rooms, comfy bed. Requires a little walking to get to rooms depending where your room is so may be a watchout for those with mobility problems.

Meals were fine- had dinner buffet and breakfast buffet. Nothing spectacular but simple and hearty

Best thing about the resort wa the view of the valley and pleasant staff.

Wifi only available in the lobby.

    “Nice resort and staff”

Very good location on outskirts of Punakha valley. Whole valley can be seen from here with sunset and sunrise. Well planned rooms with large windows to enjoy valley view. Total ladies staff except Chef. Rooms are large and bathrooms also large. Toiletris provided was only soap and liquid soap . Room heater size not sufficient to size of rooms. Morning walk in and outside resort was wonderful experience. We stayed only one night and enjoyed kitchen garden. One should order in advance for food of choice as not much available as per menu being off season. Even items like Green Salads,Fresh fruits or curd etc not available if required. In breakfast for veg only Corn flakes,Either Aaloo Paratha or Puri Bhaji-potato only will be there. Fresh fruits also may not be served. Curd availability depends on local purchase before your order so advance intimation desirable in evening if required in morning.

    “Country resort with Kitchen Garden”

Absolutely gorgeous hotel with a view of the punakha valley. The hotel, as with all building in Bhutan, is built with traditional culture/architecture but is very modern in its amenities. Room is extremely spacious and can easily accomodate 3 people with an extra bed.

Staff are also extremely helpful regardless of the time of day/night. Food is good, and breakfast which is served in the conference room affords a beautiful view of the valley. I would highly recommend rising up early to watch the entire valley enveloped in fog/mist and then see it rise as the sun comes up.

Only negative is there was no wifi in the room for which you have to go to the reception/store area. But, you're not really in Bhutan for the wifi and connecting to devices so this was not an issue for me or my wife.

    “Stunning Hotel”

Nice place in nature's serenity.....!!! Good food, spacious rooms with amenities, truly a great place to visit. And not to forget about the courtesies about the staff. Enjoyed a lot over one night stay.

    “Year end break..!!”

USP of this resort is its staff and its natural beauty. One can find very good scenenic beauty from the window of the room. They serve good Indian food..All women staff in this resort always ready to help you with a smile.
Also, they have a separate cafe where from the balcony you can have views outside especially of sunset..Very beautiful and peaceful resort..
One drawback is that it is located around 10 km before main Punakha town but its not a very serious issue because Punakha town is not that much developed where you want to roam in the evening so it is better place to stay in the evening at resort itself and enjoy the scenic beauty outside.
You can also have a look at hotel lobesa before booking
