We stayed 3 nights. We were given a great room on the corner at the front. The hotel is still being renovated so half the rooms are closed, but the "post renovation" rooms are really comfortable and quite stylish. The bar (nice and cosy) , restaurant and spa are all open. Staff are super friendly and efficient. Only caveat is that the street dogs in Thimphu tend to keep up a barking competition all through the night ..it was a pain for the first night, but then we got used to it ! I suspect it applies to most places in the town.

If your looking for the authentic architecture and ambience, this is it, we had a huge room and large bathroom with roll top bath and a separate rain shower the bathrooms have obviously been updated, the bed was super King and extremely comfortable, the restaurant was lovely and food and service excellent. A very nice bar with wood fire, all the staff were friendly and efficient and nothing was to much bother, we enjoyed our stay very much
There is upgrading going on but did not affect us at all and don't be put off by the entrance to the hotel.

Good hotel in Thimphu. I had a very comfortable nice clean room, assume renovated. The breakfast is ok, dinner very good. As it was cold, loved the nice warm rooms (good heating), service was ok. Not the cheapest hotel. Very very good is the spa in the hotel (best massage ever)

The Druk Hotel in Thimphu is the place to stay when you go to Bhutan. It is an old hotel that has all the cultural aspects of what one expects of Bhutan and more. The rooms are ample and what i found charming are the "smaller" rooms that are comfortable, colorful and comfortable. The staff at the hotel are caring as i found most all Bhutanese to be, helpful and responsive should anything need attention. The food in the cafe is good with a heavy infusion of Indian cooking and local tastes as well. Gross national happiness is real here.

Stayed here for two nights during my week in Bhutan- central location in Clock Tower square and was able to walk around and walk to the stadium. Rooms are unique ad bathroom is quite large. Restaurant was a buffet and the food was pretty good.
