  • Kichu Resort Wangdue

    Some Key Facts:

    • Kichu Resort is a scenic and secluded resort located on a river providing a great getaway from the crowd while in Bhutan.
    • Kichu Resort is owned by a Buddhist monk in Bhutan. As a result, it only serves vegetarian food. The secluded resort is located beside a river away from the road.

Wanduephodrang's Dzong dominates the heights above the Punatsangchhu, guarding access to the Dzong at Punakha further up the Valley. Another 10 kms through the towering mountain sides, one reaches the confluence of another two gushing rivulets at Chuzomza at 5000ft.

The Resort is again a charming riverside respite, the setting this time sub-tropical. Every visitor is lavished with genuine Bhutanese hospitality and friendly service. the motto of Kichu Resorts.

Kichu resort in Wangdu/Punakha, though a little inside the main town, is located in an ideal place (next to the river). It has a serene feel to it. Once can spend an entire day just relaxing in that resort. The food and service was good.

    “Beautiful location and resort”

Kichu resort wangdue/ punakha is away from the main city and a very tranquil n serene resort in the midst of nature. It has neat ,clean n comfy rooms with a wonderful view of the flowing ..Paro river. Every room has a sit out or balcony where one can sit n enjoy a cuppa tea or coffee n listen to the music of the nature (river flowing ,chirping birds and the leaves on the trees dancing to the music of the wind.. It's a beautiful ME time . One can also walk to the banks of the river n sit on the rocks n enjoy the atmosphere. The bar n reception n the restaurant area is very warm and cosy. The staff is very warm and hospitable. The food served is fresh and tasty. The garden area is nice n colourful with well kept flora n faunal. Overall a great experience n comfortable stay. Nice places to see around.....on way to Punakha from Thimphu one can stop at the view point to see the Dochu La pass( which is very scenic with fascinating view of mountains of Bhutan ),Chimi Lhakhang monastery. In punakha the Punakha Dzong is an attraction .Three hours drive ahead of Kichu resort is the beautiful and mesmerising Gangtey valley where one can be face to face with nature and ones own soul n breathe fresh pure air. If lucky during this season November one can also sight the black necked cranes that migrate here from the arid plains in the north to pass winter in milder and lower climate. Wonderful experience!!

    “The land of happiness....Bhutan”

We visited wangdue Kichu resort in the last week of October and to our delight it was the most beautiful experience of the tour, if you want a place away from the hustle and bustle of the town and where only nature has its sound, you must stay at this place. Our standard cottage rooms were small but cozy and comfortable, clean and had a picturesque view of the flowing river, the sound of which does not disturb you at all. Staff is courteous, polite, they serve very tasty meals, but only veg. Overall a great experience.

    – “Beautiful and serene place”

Over all the other comforts of this hotel such as wi-fi and wholesome breakfast, is the warmth and friendliness of the staff of this hotel. Facilities in the room to make your own coffee and tea makes it possible to wake-up early morning and enjoy your coffee in the wonderful garden or on the bank of the river gurgling-by the hotel. Truly wonderful place.

“Restful place after a tiring journey”

I stayed at this resort on 23rd September, 2016 just for one night. But Kichu Resort won my heart within these few hours. The mountain river beside the cottage is fearsome and beautiful at the same time. What else do you need if you can sip a cup of tea at your balcony and watch the greenish foamy water roaring down below just 20 feet away? I loved this place so much and wish to come back again. Now a summary from my experience:

    Pros:

    1. Extremely helpful staffs. They will always try to help you with a smiling face.
    2. Restaurant is good, they serve good meal.
    3. Rooms are neat and clean and bathroom is nice as well.
    4. The whole area will give you mental peace and put you in a meditating state due to its calm and peaceful ambient.

    Cons:

    1. The road to reach here from Thimphu is not in good condition. I would say at some places it was quite risky.

Overall, I liked the stay at Kichu Resort Wangdue very much and recommend to everyone.

“This what I call a true place to relax”
