We just spent three weeks travelling across Bhutan from Thimphu to Trashigang district. Both my wife and I used to teach in eastern Bhutan almost 30 years ago and this was an opportunity to revisit some of our "old haunts". Lingkhar Lodge is ideally situated to use as a base while exploring eastern Bhutan - it is a short drive from Trashigang (< 30 min) and within an easy day trip of Trashiyangtse/Bomdeling (to see Chorten Kora/Gom Kora/Black-necked Cranes), Radhi/Phongmey (weaving/rice cultivation), Kanglung/Radhi (Sherubtse College and Khaling weaving centre), Rangchikhar (traditional homestay), Dremitse (famous monastery) and numerous other cultural and religious sites. The lodge is beautifully situated just off the main road between Trashigang and Kanglung with lovely views from most rooms. We found it to be an "oasis of tranquility" at the end of each day after visiting various sites - travel in eastern Bhutan can be tiring for the uninitiated and it was always a pleasure to come back to the lodge at the end of each day to relax in relative luxury. The staff were all friendly and attentive as were the proprietors who were both extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of Bhutanese history, culture and society. This was one of the more relaxing and enjoyable holidays we've had and we both highly recommend a stay here. As an additional consideration, the proprietors can also arrange a stay in a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse in Rangchikhar which is a completely different experience (only about a 45 min uphill drive from Lingkhar Lodge) but also very comfortable and fun.

– “Lovely Lingkhar Lodge”
The staff was friendly & accommodating upon evening arrival w warm smiles & tea. Room is lovely, spacious and clean. The view is stunning. The dining room served good wine and food. The staff is very friendly.
– “Bhutan adventure (eastern)”
The location is not very good but the view from the rooms, the restaurant is very good. It overlooks a working terrace rice field owned by the hotel themselves. There are numerous birds and all shapes, sizes and colors flying all over the hotel area in the morning, just sitting there hearing them sing is worth the stay.
The very friendly staff is also a plus point. The food is good, I especially like the breakfast and the view from the outdoor area where breakfast is served.
– “Tranquil and Scenic Stay”
We had a very nice 'half villa' with a separate bedroom and a balcony overlooking te the paddyfields/orchard/farmland belonging to the lodge with many birds and butterfies around. Service and food were very nice.
– “spacious rooms, friendly service and beautiful view over ricepaddies and orcahrd”
Very good. Worth to stay here ! We stayed here two times during our trip in December 2015/ January 2016.
We stayed in one of the 6 cottages. Built in 2011 and appr. 10 km outside Trashigang. Very friendly staff and excellent cottage with spacious bedroom and separate living room and large bathroom. Excellent lighting. We stayed here during the winter and both rooms had portable electric heaters. There is free Wi-Fi, which is sometimes very slow. Good beds.
Restaurant serves simple, good food. Credit cards not accepted.
