“Metta” meaning ‘loving kindness’ in Pali or ‘a spiritual formula capable of safeguarding one's well-being’, is the name earned by the resort nestled in the lush green hills of Paro near farmland.
Bhutan Metta Resort and Spa is a boutique resort built in the traditional style of cottages with a touch of contemporary style. All cottages accommodation blends harmoniously into the surrounding. The cottage presents its own enchanting panoramic view across the Monastery perhaps like a gem in a setting of nature and simplicity. It's away from the hustle of daily life, you can enjoy an exceptional experience at Metta.
The resort is located in Shomu village, where you can enjoy short walk along the crystal clear fed by glacier.
We stayed 3 very enjoyable nights at the resort which is located a short drive from Paro.
There was possible mould in the bathroom and 1 of the heaters did not work in the room that we were initially allocated. We were given the choice of 2 other rooms without fuss or bother on part of management..
Room was very spacious with comfortable bed and pillows. Room was well appointed with all the usual facilities including a lounge suite but no safe.
Buffet meals were of a high standard and drink prices were very reasonable.
– “Great customer service”
The setting of this resort is very well done, very nice feel to it, lots of space, rooms are huge, however the heaters in the room are very lousy and it doesn't warm up the room during winter. Room service is everyday and they do a good job.
Food are great, there's a hot spa at the entrance of the hotel. Location wise is a little far though, a bumpy drive up to the resort, and even if you walk to the main road outside, there really isn't anything and is still 10mins drive to town of Paro.
– “Nice setting, cold rooms”
1. Good food. Loved the desserts.
2. Comfortable stay.
3. Good ambiance.
4. Large rooms.
5. Cultural program was highlight on the last day.
6. Decent spa.
7. This was the best hotel we stayed at in whole of Bhutan.
8. The owners and staff are genuine. Engagement levels are high and service is excellent.
1. Spotty Wifi connection in the room. But this wasn't a major concern for us.
2. Mobile phones are used as intercom system which is dependent on the signal strength. While on paper this sounds good, it has a few practical issues.
3. while we stayed there, some renovation/construction was going on. This was not an issue as they stopped work during evening time.
– “Amazing Experience”
We stayed here for three nights, again after along drive. Our room was big and clean, though a little scruffy in places. We were given an electric blanket which was very welcome as it was -4 outside. On two nights we ate at the restaurant buffet, which was varied and excellent. We even ate come cakes. We also had the best wine in Bhutan there, at a very good price, although it was Australian ! Sports channels on TV in our room even had the English league on live !
The rooms were a bit worn in places, but were clean
As usual, very friendly staff, though we were woken up each morning as the staff wheeled guests luggage along outside our window and chatted loudly. Those guests had an early flight, but we didnt !
Still, an excellent stay to end our trip to Bhutan.
– “Excellent base for exploring Paro”
The room is spacious and the resort itself is cosy, the road to there is not so nice and it is a little bit far from Paro center. I recommend it as a place to chill and relax, but if you want to walk around it is not an option.
– “Good hotel for the money”
