We used the River Lodge many times during our stay in Bhutan and it was by far our best accommodation. Pema Dawa and his staff were friendly and made sure that we had everything we could need during our stay there. We could count on a good sleep with great food that I hope to get back to experience. Definitely a fond memory of our time spent in a wonderful country. Thank you friend!

– “A Much Needed Comfort”
We loved this place so much, we stayed three nights. The food is of the best Quality, organic, and prepared with love. They even serve wine from Bhutan, which tastes great. Very attentive staff. Nice, and atmospheric rooms.
– “Lovely place, worth to stay longer than one night”
I have stay at the River lodge on and off for the past 6 years. The manager is a great guy and goes out of his way to help everyone. The food is good and the lodge is only a 5-10 minute walk from the center of town.
– “Great place!!!”
It was after a long tiring journey from Punakha to Bumthang and chilly November night when we checked in at River Lodge .... but to our surprise we got home made pure vegetarian food and that too with our Indian style chapatti coated with organic butter. We were served excellent home made Ara (Corn wine) sfter dinner. The warm hospitality of the owner and cozy room with a wood fired hearth instantly removed our fatigue. When visiting Bhutan, River Lodge is an experience one has not to miss.
Only one Caution: The road to Bumthang is under Major Expansion work and also affected by land slide. Punakha - Bumthang car travel may take 10 Hrs. Please take a flight from Paro to Bumthang and back. If you plan only a 1 night stay in Bumthang and travel by car, you end up in 20 Hrs car travel to & from Punakha.
