The balcony of our room provided a fantastically close view of the Trongsa Dzong and the surrounding valley. We could hear the amazing sound of the fast flowing river far below us as we slept in comfortable cosy beds.

Our road trip from Thimphu to Trongsa was long and scary with all the road construction taking place. The hotel staff contacted us a few times to check we were still coming due to our delay. When we arrived at the hotel in the dark and rainy weather we were immediately greeted by the friendly staff and escorted to our rooms before being served a delicious dinner!

    “Amazing view & sounds”

This is a very cosy comfortable property in a traditional style with wooden floors, ceilings and walls and a balcony overlooking a splendid view. Trongsa is the reason Bhutan is called the land of the thunder dragon - billowing white clouds in the narrow valley below and the magnificent monastery laying sprawled in its entirety to admire at close range. At night you can hear single mighty claps of thunder that sound like canon shots. Hence making Trongsa truly the place of the thunder dragon. You can hear the morning prayers with cymbals and horns or just listen to the sound of the river rushing by. and birdsong as forest is just over the road. It really is a gorgeous location, a great property - the best I could see around - and Trongsa should never be missed for a layover. The hotel has 5 floors as the first is a basement where the restaurant is located. Management are generous and helpful. Wifi works in the lobby only at this stage which is separate from the accommodation and means exiting the building - not good at night. Entry grill not closed at night and animals can access the building so do not leave windows or doors open.

    “Unbelievable Views”

We were supposed to have driven through Trongsa and stopped only for lunch. We broke down about a couple of hours outside and managed to reach Trongsa only at dinner-time. We had to stop. Our guide had managed to book Tashi Ninjay at the last moment. The hotel is in three levels, the lobby and office is at the road level, most of the rooms are one level down and the dining room is a further storey below.
The rooms away from the roads overlook the Dzong of Trongsa. The rooms are nice and comfortable. The bathrooms are large and well fitted. The dining (we ate only Bhutanese) was good. The bar was well stocked when we were there, but not at all times, we were told.
Note: Wifi is only available in the lobby.

“An Unscheduled Stay of Good Value”

Our room was cozy and comfortable, with a spectacular view of the valley from the balcony. You can see the Trongsa valley with the Trongsa fortress perched on it. And at night, you can gaze down at the fortress all lit up. The bathroom was clean and spacious with abundant hot water. The food at the restaurant was delicious (traditional Bhutanese. Alcohol is available too), and the owner is a lovely person who is happy to accommodate all your requests. Wifi is a little patchy in the room, but okay in the lobby.

    “Kickass Views!”

You really can't beat the view and the food for all three meals was great. Dogs barking kept us up much of the night. A walk into town held a lot of interest but don't expect to find coffee! Go past the town to the local market.

“Rooms and restaurant lover the the dzong!”
