The impressive Wangchuk dominates the Mongar accommodation scene with 32 spacious rooms, good food and a delightful setting. The hotel, designed with a courtyard in the middle allows all rooms to have a great view of the mountains, valleys and farmlands.
The large carpeted rooms equipped with comfy beds, TV, room safe and fans have views over town or forested hills, and massage is offered. The restaurant terrace is the perfect place to reminisce over the drive from Bumthang with a stiff drink.

This is a comfortable hotel in Mongar. The room was nice and clean, there was hot water, internet, food, and the Druk 11000 was fairly priced. The hotel is right next to downtown, making for nice evening and morning walks. Nothing special, but all totally fine.
After having returned from 16 days/15 nights in Bhutan (Samdrup Jongkhar, Trashigang, Autsho/Lhuentse, Mongar, Bumthang/Jakar, Trongsa, Punakha, Thimphu, Paro), the common theme for me is that eastern Bhutan is absolutely wonderful, but you don't travel there for the hotel rooms. If you want a Le Meridien or a Taj, then stay in Paro or Thimpu.
The food and service at this hotel was great! The verandah was a perfect place to have a drink from the bar, even when it was raining. The rooms were well equipped and cosy.
The staff were helpful in providing instructions for a nearby walk to a temple on the mountain top.
The location made it easy to walk to the Mongar Dzong and in to town.
Laundry service available, including for your safari suit (yes, that was specifically mentioned in the laundry price list).
– “Location and food was great!”
Nice Hotel with a great location right in the centre of town. Walking distance to Mongar Dzong which is a relatively new Dzong built in the 1930's. We had a corner room overlooking the town. Food was nice and staff very friendly. Only stayed for 1 night as this is all that is required when travelling in this region. Wifi only available in the receptions area. – “Located right in the Centre of Town”
After an extremely basic stay in Khoma, Lhuntse in a home stay, wangchuk hotel was luxury for us. We stayed there for a couple of nights and enjoyed the stay and food(a little on the oily side) as well. The hotel is majorly managed by female staff and they are excellent in their work. The hotel has wifi but the signals are weak in rooms and hence sitting in their computer room is the best option for wifi. The rooms have heaters which is a boon during colder months. The only draw back that we faced was that we were given a ground floor room and it's windows open to the side of the lawn which is actually a passage towards their dorm rooms for guides and drivers. Hence privacy becomes an issue as you might see people walking past your room window and glancing inside.
– “Comfortable stay in Mongar”
Mongar is a small town . However, wangchuk hotel is an oasis of luxury .
We first stopped here on our way to Thrumsingla National Park for lunch . The food was great and the ambience was comfortable . We had our lunch on the sun deck. We immediately decided to stay here on our way back .
We stayed in the Deluxe room on the first floor . The room was large and very comfortable with wooden floors and a very large toilet with bath tub with running hot water. The view from the rooms were great .
This hotel also has a spa and I got a replacing Swedish massage .
We had really great momos in the evening along with good dinner. We had asked for packed breakfast since we were leaving for an early birding trip.
This is the best place to stay in Mongar.
